Final release of the Illumination ep, mixed and mastered with violin tracks, is on its way. Full versions of Illumination and Growth can now be heard in the music player.
Although not official yet, Geomancer has been asked to perform at this year's Indianapolis Metalfest in September. This is the only the second year for this festival, so keep an eye out this summer for schedule/bands. 20+ minutes of new Geomancer material is currently in the works, and we are now playing a new untitled unreleased song live.
Bio
- Jon Smith — Lead Guitar
- Kerry Bay — Rhythm Guitar
- Elliott Shaw — Bass
- Danielle Turano — Violin
- Wes Sands — Drums
Completely instrumental, Geomancer is an onslaught of inspiring progressive style heavy metal. Both highly technical and melodic, Geomancer's unique style draws influence from a wide array of music.
Compared to bands such as Dream Theater, Death, Iron Maiden, and Opeth, Geomancer defies the repetition of modern metal with epic tracks accompanied by violin and absent of vocals.
Geomancer's style can most easily be described as roboclassical neodeath-fusion heavy shredcore with some NES and Space/Time elements. The songs evolve rapidly, constantly changing and moving into new directions. From death metal, to quiet interludes, to robot, with ripping leads throughout and a variety of odd time signatures to keep things interesting. The shit is in your face like a bad car crash on acid.
Geomancer is still struggling to bring Instru-Metal to music fans worldwide. Dedicated to music, and the underground, Geomancer pushes metal to its limits, and attempts to draw all forms of music away from compromise at the hands of greedy men.
Geomancer's first self-titled demo was released in the spring of 2001 as a project of current lead guitarist and songwriter Jon Smith and current drummer Wes Sands. This demo was followed up by a second version with the addition of Clem Poole on bass and Pat Murch as a second guitarist. After Clem left the band in 2002, long time friend Charlie Potter filled in on bass for a few shows while Aaron Higgins joined as temporary violinist.
After a short break, Geomancer recruited current bass player Elliot Shaw in 2004 and began an onslaught of live shows. The addition of Danielle Turano and Kerry Bay in 2007 completed the lineup and Geomancer is currently preparing to tour in support of their newest release, Illumination.

Reviews
“Geomancer returned triumphantly to the German Club on October 6 for their most ground-breaking show yet. Releasing their first demo in 2001, Geomancer have been on the forefront of heavy metal in New London county as the most technically-adept, most intense band ever to be produced by our home state...” Read More at ReadTheScope.com
“I have to admit when I first popped the Geomancer disc in my stereo I had no idea what to expect. With song titles like "Ninja Forest" who knows what's going to come out of your speakers. As soon as the music began my fears were quickly washed away...” Read more at MetalReview.com
“Being a writer, I've had the fortune (sometimes misfortune) of getting to check out hundreds of demo bands making their start. And I can honestly say that I've rarely if ever heard anything quite as promising as Geomancer...” Read More at IntoObscurity.com
